Well done to everyone who took part in HealthProm’s Great Expectations Bike Ride on Sunday 2nd October! It was a fantastic day out in support of the charity and the money is still coming in for our project in Tajikistan! It was a lovely ride through the Lea Valley and hopefully no one came away too sunburnt!

Below are some of the photos from the day. If you took any please do send them to us in the office at events@healthprom.org and with your permission we will also put some of them on the website.

What will the money be spent on?

HealthProm works to support vulnerable babies and young children in Tajikistan so they can remain living with their families, and we work to improve the quality of life for children under 5 already in baby homes. We provide family support and child development opportunities at our family centre next to a baby home in Dushanbe, and work directly with families in their own homes. We work to promote the acceptance and inclusion of all vulnerable children in the wider community.

Children suffer in institutions and do not grow up as they should. They need to take part in life with other children. With the money you raise from this cycle ride we will help vulnerable young children become included in pre-school and integrated activity schemes. Your support will allow us to buy the toys and equipment we need, and to train teachers and activity leaders in the community.

Dickens raised our awareness about poor conditions for 19th century children in the UK, and he inspires us to this, our second ‘Great Expectations’ ride. By taking part or making a contribution, you will make a better life possible for these 21st century children.

You can find out more about what we do in Tajikistan and other parts of Central Asia by visiting www.healthprom.org
